Terms of Use, Orders & Refunds

1. Overview

Education Forward is an initiative developed under Common Sense Factor® and operated by CS Factor Book Publishing Inc.

These Terms of Use, Orders & Refunds govern access to and use of the Education Forward website, educational materials, products, digital resources, personalized editions, and community campaign resources.

By accessing this website, placing an order, or participating in an Education Forward initiative, you agree to these Terms.

2. Educational Purpose

All content provided through Education Forward, including books, guides, planners, digital resources, website content, and other educational materials, is intended for general educational and awareness purposes only.

This content:

  • Does not constitute professional, technical, legal, financial, engineering, inspection, or licensed advice

  • Does not provide instructions for the repair, diagnosis, installation, modification, or replacement of home systems

  • Is not a substitute for advice or services provided by a qualified professional

Users are responsible for determining how the information applies to their own homes, circumstances, and decisions.

3. No Professional Relationship

Accessing or purchasing Education Forward products or resources does not create:

  • A contractor-client relationship

  • A consulting agreement

  • A professional advisory relationship

  • A home inspection relationship

  • An engineering relationship

  • A code-compliance relationship

  • Any other licensed professional relationship

Educational materials are provided for general information, awareness, planning, and organization.

4. User Responsibility

Homes, systems, materials, equipment, and local requirements vary considerably.

Users acknowledge that:

  • Decisions and actions are taken at their own discretion

  • Work involving safety, regulated systems, or technical components should be evaluated and performed by qualified professionals

  • Local building codes, manufacturer instructions, safety requirements, and applicable laws should be followed

  • CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. is not responsible for outcomes resulting from the use, misuse, or interpretation of educational materials

5. Products and Orders

Education Forward may offer:

  • Printed books and educational guides

  • Digital planners and digital educational resources

  • Personalized real estate closing-gift editions

  • Community campaign resources

  • Other educational products and materials

Product descriptions, quantities, prices, included resources, availability, and applicable conditions will be displayed on the relevant product page, checkout page, quotation, or campaign page.

Customers are responsible for reviewing product details before placing an order.

CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. may decline or cancel an order where:

  • A product is unavailable

  • Pricing or product information contains a material error

  • Personalization materials cannot reasonably be used

  • Payment cannot be confirmed

  • The order appears fraudulent, unlawful, or inconsistent with these Terms

If CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. cancels an order after payment has been received, the amount paid for the cancelled portion will be refunded.

6. Pricing Taxes and Payment

Prices are displayed in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.

Applicable taxes, customization fees, shipping charges, and other costs will be displayed or disclosed before the order is completed.

Some personalized orders may require:

  • A minimum order quantity

  • A one-time customization fee

  • Separately calculated shipping

  • Approval of a personalized proof

Payments are processed securely through third-party payment providers.

Payment-card information is handled by the payment provider and is not stored directly by Education Forward, except where transaction information must be retained for accounting, dispute, or legal purposes.

Prices and product availability may change. Changes will not affect an order after it has been confirmed, except where the customer agrees to the change or where correction is required by law.

7. Order Confirmation

After an online order is placed, the customer will receive an email confirmation containing the available order details.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing a valid email address

  • Providing accurate billing and delivery information

  • Reviewing the order confirmation for accuracy

  • Checking spam or junk folders if the confirmation is not received

Customers should contact us promptly if an order confirmation contains incorrect information.

For personalized orders, the order confirmation is not the final artwork approval. A separate personalized proof may be provided before production.

8. Digital Access

Some products include a digital planner, portal, download, or other digital resource.

Digital access is considered delivered when:

  • Access instructions are emailed

  • Portal access is activated

  • A download link is provided

  • The digital resource becomes available through the designated access method

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing an accurate email address

  • Following the access instructions

  • Maintaining the security of their access information

  • Using a reasonably compatible device and internet connection

If a customer experiences an access problem, reasonable assistance will be provided to help restore or complete access.

Digital resources may not be copied, resold, shared publicly, republished, or distributed unless written permission has been provided.

9. Personalized Orders and Proof Approval

Personalized editions may include:

  • Brokerage, company, or organization branding

  • Customer-provided logos

  • Agent or representative names

  • Contact information

  • Welcome Home messaging

  • Approved personal messages

  • Other agreed personalization details

Customers must provide accurate branding, names, contact information, logos, and instructions.

A personalized proof will be provided for customer review before production begins.

The customer is responsible for reviewing:

  • Names and spelling

  • Phone numbers and email addresses

  • Brokerage, company, or organization information

  • Logos and branding

  • Personal messages

  • Layout and placement

Production will begin after the customer approves the proof.

Once the proof has been approved and production has begun, the personalized order cannot normally be changed, cancelled, returned, or refunded.

If an error appeared in the approved proof, it is considered customer-approved content and is not treated as a production error.

If CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. produces an order that differs materially from the approved proof, the affected products will be corrected, replaced, or refunded as appropriate.

The one-time customization fee covers artwork preparation, personalization, proof development, and production setup.

The customization fee becomes non-refundable once design or personalization work begins.

Future orders using the same approved artwork will not normally require another customization fee unless changes are requested.

10. Shipping, Delivery and Local Pickup

Shipping charges may be calculated separately based on:

  • Order quantity

  • Package size and weight

  • Delivery location

  • Available delivery method

Estimated production and delivery dates are estimates only.

Delivery may be affected by printing schedules, carriers, weather, holidays, supply interruptions, and other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.

Additional charges resulting from an incorrect address, refused delivery, address change, or unsuccessful delivery attempt may be charged to the customer.

If a shipment appears lost or significantly delayed, the customer should contact us so the shipment can be reviewed with the carrier.

Free local pickup may be available in Sarnia-Lambton for eligible orders.

Pickup instructions will be provided after the order is ready.

Customers should collect their order within the pickup period stated in the notification. If additional time is required, the customer should contact us before the pickup period expires.

An order is considered received when it has been collected by the customer or the customer’s authorized representative.

11. Cancellations, Returns and Refunds

Standard Printed Books

Standard printed books may be returned within 14 days of delivery if they are:

  • Unused

  • Undamaged

  • Unmarked

  • In their original condition

  • Suitable for resale

Customers must contact us before returning an order. Return instructions and the appropriate return address will be provided.

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the product arrived damaged, defective, or different from what was ordered.

Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return results from an error by CS Factor Book Publishing Inc.

Refunds will be processed after the returned products have been received and inspected.

Digital Resources

Digital resources are non-refundable after access has been issued or activated, except where required by applicable law.

Personalized Orders

Personalized orders may be cancelled before design or personalization work begins.

If a personalized order is cancelled after design work begins but before proof approval, the product portion may be refundable. The customization fee will remain non-refundable.

A personalized order becomes final after the customer approves the proof and production begins.

Personalized products cannot be returned or refunded because of customer-approved spelling, branding, content, colour, or layout choices.

Standard Order Cancellations

A standard product order may be cancelled before fulfillment begins.

If printing, packaging, digital delivery, or shipment has already begun, the applicable return or refund conditions in this section will apply.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method where possible.

Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

Shipping charges, return shipping costs, customization fees, and completed digital access are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in these Terms or required by law.

12. Dammaged, Defective or Incorrect Orders

Customers should inspect printed products when they arrive.

Please contact us within 14 days of delivery if an order:

  • Arrives damaged

  • Contains a printing or manufacturing defect

  • Is different from the confirmed order

  • Differs materially from an approved personalized proof

  • Is missing an item

We may request photographs of the product, packaging, shipping label, or affected pages so the issue can be reviewed.

If CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. or its fulfillment provider made the error, the affected product will be corrected, replaced, or refunded at no additional cost to the customer.

Normal differences between screen colours and printed colours are not necessarily defects.

Minor commercially acceptable differences in paper appearance, trimming, binding, placement, and printing may occur.

13. Community Campaigns

Education Forward may support community campaigns involving nonprofit organizations, community groups, businesses, families, sponsors, and other participants.

Community campaigns may include:

  • Special educational resources

  • Campaign-specific pricing

  • Sponsorship or participation arrangements

  • Local distribution or pickup

  • Fundraising arrangements

  • Recognition of participating organizations

  • Additional written fulfillment conditions

Campaign-specific terms will be displayed on the relevant campaign page or provided in writing before an order or agreement is completed.

If campaign-specific terms conflict with these general Terms, the campaign-specific terms will apply to that campaign, subject to applicable law.

Unless a written agreement states otherwise, recognition of a business, nonprofit organization, or community group does not create a legal partnership, joint venture, agency, or endorsement relationship.

Organizations recognized through a campaign are not responsible for Education Forward website content, educational materials, customer orders, refunds, or outcomes.

14. Customer-Provided Branding and Materials

Customers may provide logos, photographs, names, messages, trademarks, and other materials for personalization.

By providing these materials, the customer confirms that:

  • The customer owns the materials or has permission to use them

  • The requested use does not knowingly violate another person’s rights

  • The information provided is accurate

  • CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. may use the materials to prepare, produce, and fulfill the customer’s order

Customer-provided materials remain the property of their respective owners.

The customer grants CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. a limited permission to use the supplied materials solely for preparing, producing, fulfilling, and maintaining the approved personalized order.

CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. may decline materials that appear unlawful, misleading, offensive, unauthorized, or unsuitable for production.

15. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, content provided through Education Forward, including:

  • Written materials

  • Books, guides, and planners

  • Digital resources

  • Website content

  • Photographs

  • Graphics

  • Videos

  • Logos

  • Educational frameworks

is owned by CS Factor Holdings LLC or used under authorization and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Education Forward and Common Sense Factor® materials may not be reproduced, distributed, modified, stored, republished, resold, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

Purchasing a product does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property contained within it.

16. Third-Party Services and Links

Education Forward may use or link to third-party services, including:

  • Payment processors

  • Website platforms

  • Email providers

  • Digital-access platforms

  • Printers and fulfillment providers

  • Shipping carriers

  • External educational resources

Third-party services operate under their own terms, policies, and availability.

CS Factor Book Publishing Inc. is not responsible for the content, security, availability, or privacy practices of unrelated third-party websites.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CS Factor Book Publishing Inc., CS Factor Holdings LLC, Common Sense Factor®, and associated Education Forward initiatives will not be liable for:

  • Damages resulting from the use or misuse of educational information

  • Decisions made based on educational content

  • Outcomes involving home systems, maintenance, repairs, renovations, or professional services

  • Loss caused by a user’s failure to follow safety requirements, manufacturer instructions, codes, or applicable laws

  • Interruptions caused by third-party platforms, carriers, or service providers outside our reasonable control

Educational materials are used at the user’s discretion.

Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

18. Privacy

Personal information is collected, used, retained, and protected as described in the Education Forward Privacy Policy.

By using the website, submitting a form, or placing an order, users acknowledge that their information will be handled according to that policy.

The Privacy Policy is available through the website footer and should be reviewed before submitting personal information.

19. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies available under applicable consumer-protection legislation.

If a provision of these Terms conflicts with a mandatory legal requirement, the applicable legal requirement will govern.

20. Modifications

These Terms may be updated periodically to reflect changes in products, operations, services, technology, community campaigns, or applicable legal requirements.

The revised effective date will appear at the top of this page.

Changes will apply from the revised effective date and will not retroactively alter a completed order unless required by law or agreed to by the customer.
