Education Forward is a structured home maintenance education initiative designed to help homeowners better understand, manage, and stay ahead of the systems within their homes.
It provides practical, easy-to-follow guidance that supports more informed, preventative decision-making over time.
Most home maintenance is approached reactively—often after problems arise.
Education Forward was created to shift that approach toward awareness, preparation, and prevention, helping homeowners reduce uncertainty, avoid unnecessary costs, and make more confident decisions.

Planning tools to track and manage home systems
Optional guided support (where applicable)
A defined portion of participation supports community-based awareness efforts through participating organizations.
Education Forward was developed by Peter Last, founder of Common Sense Factor™, based on over four decades of hands-on experience across several licensed trade certificates, hardware store environments, and diverse residential environments.
Through this experience, he identified a consistent gap between reactive service calls and preventative awareness—leading to the development of a practical, system-based approach to home maintenance.
Education Forward is an independently developed, education-first initiative designed to provide practical value while supporting broader community awareness.
